Coils

A vape coil, also known as an atomizer, is a component of a vape kit that heats up and vaporizes the e-liquid in the tank for inhalation. It consists of a coiled piece of wire wrapped in a wicking material like cotton. The wick soaks up the e-liquid in the tank, and when powered, the coil heats up and turns it into vapour which you then inhale.

MTL and DL vaping styles can be achieved by using coils with different resistances. MTL coils typically have a higher resistance of 1.0 ohms or above, which allows for a tighter draw and less vapor production. DL coils, on the other hand, have lower resistances below 1.0 ohm, which produce more vapor and allow for a direct-to-lung inhale. However, it's important to note that the style of vaping is not solely determined by the coil resistance but also by the airflow and wattage settings of the device.

All coils will eventually need to be changed, generally once a week. You'll know when it's time to change your coil when the taste of your e-liquid starts to deteriorate or you notice a drop in vapour production. Additionally, if you notice a burnt taste or smell when vaping, it’s also likely time to change your coil. Another indication is if you see black gunk or residue on the coil itself. It's important to regularly check your coils and replace them as needed to ensure the best possible vaping experience and to avoid any potential health hazards that may arise from using worn-out coils.

As a general rule, each manufacturer will create specific coils for specific kits, so if you're using an Aspire vape kit then you will also need the Aspire coils to fit that kit. However, they will often produce a range of different resistances and coil types for you to choose from, depending on what your preferences are - for example, different resistances (MTL or sub ohm).
